Dive List 2008    Training     Red Sea 2006    Lectures

Introduction
In the Spring of 1957 three diving friends who lived in Wandsworth, South London wanted to go diving. At the time there were no diving clubs available so they started their own! Since then Atlantis Divers have been enjoying some of the most exciting and spectacular shipwrecks and coral reefs in the World. This year we are celebrating our 50th year and as such we are one of the oldest clubs in the country. So, if you’re looking for a friendly scuba diving club why not get in touch?

Where do we meet?
We meet and train at the Putney Swimming Pool every Wednesday at 8pm. Afterwards we meet at the bar in Christophers Squash Club next to Wimbledon Stadium. Feel welcome to come along and introduce yourself.

What do we do?
Our main diving activity in the UK centres around the South coast where we seek out good wrecks and other diving sites to explore. We charter local skippers and their dive boats with sophisticated electronic navigational aids. Some of our members are underwater photography enthusiasts and would be pleased to pass on tips and advice on equipment.

Social activities
The Club meets socially once a week, arranges events and trips of diving interest. Each year we arrange a week long Club diving holiday, usually on a liveaboard boat, either in the UK or to some warm location such as the Red Sea.

Qualified Divers
We welcome qualified divers. So, if you want to come and have fun diving with us see our contact details below.

Diver Training
If you would like to learn to dive, our Scuba training is taken in easy progressive steps. It has three broad sections involving instruction on diving equipment, practical diving techniques, and diving theory. Lectures are held regularly in the Kingston, Wimbledon, Putney and Wandsworth areas. Since Atlantis divers are members of The Sub Aqua Association (GBR), which is affiliated to CMAS The World Underwater Federation, our diving qualifications are your diving passport throughout the World. At the end of their basic training new divers receive the qualification of Club Diver which allows them to dive with others of equal or greater grade. Beyond basic training, members can progress on to advanced techniques e.g. Nitrox and Rebreather diving and/or become an instructor.

What to do next
Come along on a Wednesday evening for a chat or a try dive at Putney pool. If you have mask, fins and snorkel, bring them or we can provide them. Or you could contact Nick Dann our Boats Organiser on 07904 523564 or Dave Pook our Training Officer on 0771 2013055.
